The ability to learn what others
have learned, to appreciate what others appreciate, to feel what others feel, and to add this to what the
individual has acquired from other sources...is what distinguishes the
human mind from everything else. This kind of interchange and
progressive integration makes it possible to expand beyond any known
limits what people may know, feel and control. It makes it possible to
increase beyond any known limits appreciative understanding between
individuals, groups, and cultures. --
Dr. Henry
N. Wieman, Man's Ultimate Commitment (1958)
CII associates have used Dr. Wieman's
quote in our programs for many years. After working with individuals,
teams (functional and dysfunctional), work groups, and organizations in
transition, we would amend his quote to read "..expand
beyond any known limits what people may know, appreciate, imagine,
create, control and accomplish."
This series of programs is specifically
designed to increase intrapersonal, interpersonal, and teaming skills
and competencies through the principles and practices of Creative
Interchange. Based on principles of adult instruction,
this series emphasizes hands-on exercises and skill practice. Participants receive an orientation to the concepts,
principles, and practices followed by a variety of skill building
practice sessions.

The complete series can also be conducted in an
intensive 5.5 day session (includes 2 evening sessions).
Organizational and peer support for
change is critical. Recommended support options include coaching,
internal support groups, buddy system, etc.

Target Audience:
Individuals, teams, and work groups
who could benefit from enhancing their personal, interpersonal, and
team effectiveness.
Group size: 10-16
Program Overview:
"When
it's all said and done, all roads lead to Creative
Interchange."
-- Charles Haywood, Management
Consultant (formerly Ernst & Young)
In the 1970's the term was
"synergy". Today, we recognize that Creative Interchange has
been deemed "the heart and soul of managing organizational
change." The process seems simple enough to
understand--naively so. It is in the conscious and consistent application, that people struggle.
In Creative
Interchange Fundamentals, participants are introduced to
the philosophy behind the process, its concepts, principles, and
practices. Participants should expect to spend a majority of time
practicing in duos, triads, small groups and a large group context.

Target Audience:
Newly formed teams and intact work
groups who have completed Creative Interchange Fundamentals are especially well-suited for this program. Individuals
are recommended to attend an open-enrollment session.
Group size: 10 - 20
Program Overview:
"All
of us are smarter than any one of us if we don't get in each other's
way. Unfortunately, we get in each other's way a lot." --Dr.
Charlie Palmgren
When people come together and expect to "be a team" by attempting to accomplish
more than they could individually, they frequently lack the skills and
process glue to make that a reality.
This program takes skills learned in
the Creative Interchange Fundamentals
program and expands their relevance and use in a team setting. Through
an engaged Creative Interchange process, a team can increase
commitment to a shared vision, develop shared understanding among
members, and increase the likelihood of truly coordinated action.
Format:
Duration: 3 days

Target Audience:
Anyone who has completed the Creative
Interchange Fundamentals program.
Group size: 10-24
Program Overview:
"People
have been beaten down, boxed in, and brainwashed for so long that
the challenge is not to rein in their far-fetched and absurd
fantasies. The challenge is to get them to expand their
thinking."
--Gary Hamel quoted in Fast Company, December 2002
The Mindshift program moves
individuals and teams to higher levels of creativity and "out of
the box" thinking while maintaining an environment that is
Creative Interchange-friendly. Participants practice using a creative
problem-solving approach which lends itself to the "more than and
different from" synergistic aspects of Creative Interchange.
Participants are encouraged to bring problems and opportunities that
could benefit from a boost of creative power and break-through
thinking.
Format:
Duration: 2 days
Off-site location recommended
